No. 6 (Pink) – Christian Paradoxes
In this programme we identify some of the major issues that may cause
people to struggle with their faith as they seek to move towards spiritual maturity.
This is not an exhaustive list, but attempts to demonstrate the kinds of topics that need to be faced in order to help prevent doubt and insecurity from flourishing.
The topics included are:-
How do we know that Jesus was both God and Man
How can God demonstrate both Mercy and Justice ?
How can surrendering to God’s authority result in Freedom ?
Why would a God of Love send anyone to hell ?
How can God condemn people who lead a good and wholesome life ?
If God is the great healer, why does He allow so much pain and suffering?
Aren’t Christians being arrogant by not accepting people of other religions ?
Did God really create everything or did it evolve ?
Is it possible for a person to lose their salvation ?
If God designed us, why are so many people anxious and depressed ?
If God is Love, why is there so much hatred and war in the world ?
What, on Earth, are we doing ?
Has the Christian church now replaced the Jews as God’s chosen people ?
This programme is intended to be a basis for discussion between a small group of people, or a family, who wish to develop their understanding of the Christian faith. It is acceptable to dip into these topics at random, but we encourage time to be spent exploring the pro’s and con’s of each one as thoroughly as possible.
This is a Bible-based programme where we encourage each participant to look up, pray through, discuss, explore and memorise the verses under each topic.
Each group may wish to have additional input occasionally from someone more experienced in the Christian faith, but they should not change the format of the group to accommodate such a person.
Growth and maturity in the Christian faith can only be achieved by personal exploration and discovery in order to receive all that God has for us.
